I started this brand in 2015 from my living room in San Diego, California. I was a mom trying to figure out my personal style, and I was also craving something to pursue for myself outside of motherhood. I had no background in design or entrepreneurship, but I decided to teach myself how to make jewelry and see if I could create a business from there.

With about $1,000 to invest, I bought my materials, made the first batch of pieces, set up my online shop and hoped for the best. I had no budget for advertising, so I focused on building community through a customer referral program and creating content social media. It started as #legitmomstyle outfit photos, and evolved into making style videos that featured ways to wear the jewelry I made and sold. Thankfully both of those experiments worked out in my favor, and I was able to organically build up an incredible community of customers and supporters who I am forever grateful for (that's YOU!).

The truth is, this brand is about so much more than jewelry; it's an invitation to embrace the beauty of simplicity, the elegance of nature and the power of connection. It's also a way to give back — a portion of every sale is donated to a charitable cause doing good in the world.
